In the last 3-5 years there have been a multitude of new mlm’s, investment programs, gifting programs, and work at home programs that have made it more difficult for consumers and leaders in the mlm industry to differentiate the legitimate long term businesses from the fly by night operations. It’s very inexpensive today to set up an “online mlm”, full with videos, flashy graphics, and a replicated system for users to immediately promote. This creates an interesting dynamic in the industry because with no shipping and handling, no product cost, and no required employees, these online mlm’s can expand lightening fast!

And lightening fast growth is spectacular isn’t it?

Well, fast mlm growth looks great and can produce a great short term cash result, but that begs the question “why did you join mlm in the first place?” Was it the appeal of fast money or long term security and stability. If your online mlm grows overnight, it has the potential to crumble just as fast. If there’s no relationships, no mlm training, no support of any kind, do you think your downline is going to stick around at the first sight of something new? No, they will probably jump to the next dream maker.

The best option for building a successful mlm is still to have a product or service based mlm for customers that really want your product or service. This helps provide you with that long-term stability that you want in a mlm. And by the way, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fast growth too…you just need to develop your fast growth through online lead and marketing systems…not through having some junky online money-only driven mlm business.

Personal branding, marketing systems, online lead generation, and solid mlm training will provide you with the base you need to build a solid mlm business. And whether you like it or not, jumping from deal to deal to deal to deal online, will always provide you with the same returns. Fast growth, big check and a big crash. Trust me, I just played in that online “deal” game for the last couple years and just when you think that maybe something in the industry is going to change…nope, it doesn’t. The houses of cards come crashing down faster than they were built. Losing a big check because of the company’s stupidity (or maybe that’s what they planned in the first place) is not something I wish on anyone in the mlm industry. So do yourself a favour and protect your check by partnering with a legitimate product or service oriented company that can provide you with long-term stability in the industry.

Did you ever decide to be successful in your Network Marketing business? This is something many people don’t realize will help them beyond anything else. Did you even know you could? Do you realize what decision you already made your first day, week and month into your network marketing business? I’m not talking about what you said to your sponsor or the people around you. I’m talking about the decision you told the only person that can make your dreams come true…YOU.

Almost everyone that I talk to in network marketing tells me the same thing. It’s almost like prospects and new members have rehearsed their part as much as the leaders and closers do theirs. Here’s what they tell me:

“I’m going to work hard until I get to 5K per month so that I can quit my job”

“I’ve finally found the right company, now I can make it”

“Yes, of course I can work at least 1 hour per day, in fact, I’m going to work an extra 4-5 hours per day to succeed with this”

and the most popular:

“I’ll do whatever it takes”

Yeah….right. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Don’t try to convince me of what you plan to do. I’m not the one that needs convincing…I’m already successful.

I’ve seen the success rate of new members on my team and it’s not pretty. I’ve seen the success rate in the industry and it’s NOT pretty. No matter what training, tools, and support is provided, the results are the same. So why are there so many people that are deciding they want to be a great success not getting there.

Well for one, most people are just paying lip-service to the decision and not internalizing it. They SAY they are deciding to make it, but inside they are still telling themselves things like “I need this to work”, “I hope this works”, or “I really want this to work”. If you’re one of these people that are wearing your decision on the outside and not internalizing it, then you will probably continue to struggle forever.

So how do you change?

Change starts with a decision. Please don’t take this lightly either and don’t just say “Ok Joel, I decide to succeed”. It’s not that easy. You need to really have a hard look at yourself and decide that you are ready for a change in your life. Remember that your mind will want to shelter you from the pain of failing, so in order to go “all in” with your decision, you will need to make sure that you truly believe it’s possible for you to make it and that the good feelings that are going to come from winning, outweigh the thoughts or feelings of failing. You need to believe that you WILL make it.

Since success in network marketing comes from working through lots of small failures, you need to be prepared for that. Success in network marketing comes from working through rejection and ridicule. You need to be prepared for that. Success in network marketing comes from never giving up, no matter what. Are you prepared for that?

If you are truly ready to make the decision in your life to succeed in your network marketing business, I think it’s about time you did. I think it’s about time we had more people succeed in network marketing. There will be many new success stories this year…so why not you? When’s the last time you took a hard look in the mirror to decide if you need a shake-up in your life?

I’ve been blessed, as so many other top network marketers have to reap the rewards of our hard work in the network marketing industry. I’ve also seen the daily struggle that so many people go through to try to find themselves in an industry that is filled with rejection, failure, and quitters. So if you think you might need to re-invent yourself in this industry here’s a few things that you should consider right now.

Have you ever made money in network marketing?

If you have been in a network marketing opportunity longer than 6 months and haven’t yet made any money, you definitely need to have a hard look at what you’re doing. Network Marketing is a very easy industry to succeed in, however sometimes people (maybe you?) get caught up in doing the wrong activities. And of course the wrong activities lead to poor results, which leads to frustration and no money.

There are 2 main ways to deal with this problem. First, stop doing what you’re doing…because it’s not working. Get some training on how to generate leads, how to brand yourself, or how to sponsor new members. This can help you get out of your rut and into profit. Or second, just stop what you’re doing completely and join a new mentor with a new company. Sometimes all you might need is a completely fresh start. It’s okay to move companies, even million dollar earners do at times, as long as you don’t completely quit on your dreams of success in network marketing. Go for it, you can do it.

Did you make money years ago and are now struggling?

This is a very tough situation to swallow isn’t it. One minute you’re on top of the world and the next you’re faced with attrition, loss of sales, and a dwindling pay check. Again, I’ll give you 2 simple ways you can combat this problem and remember it’s up to you to follow through and pick one. First, get some fresh training on how to generate leads, how to brand yourself, or how to sponsor new members. No matter how experienced you get (notice I didn’t say old…oops), you can always benefit from new training and fresh ideas. There is no shame in learning from other successful people no matter what their background. If someone is having success in network marketing today, I want to learn how they’re doing it. Or second, you can re-discover what you did to get your success in the first place…get back to basics. At times we forget about all the hard work we put in when we first started building our network marketing business. It’s easy to get complacent and neglect the basics. Start doing the simple things again – get contacts and invite them to presentations. Growing your business is about showing your business…do you remember now? You need to get back at it.

If you think it’s just you that needs to shake things up a bit to succeed, it’s not. Everyone that’s on top needs to be constantly learning and at times completely re-inventing themselves or shifting the way they do business so that they can stay on top. This is the same in any business and network marketing is no different.

Nice problems to have aren’t they? So how exactly do you get these ‘problems’ in your life? It’s not as hard as you would think, but you need to have ONE thing that most Network Marketers don’t. In fact, this ONE secret thing is something that evades almost the entire network marketing industry and I’m going to reveal it for you today for free.The ONE thing that you need to have is…patience.

We live and operate our home based businesses today in a NOW society. I want it NOW! Between increasing download speeds, instant communications with email and texting, fast food, and pre-made or pre-built just about anything you could want, we no longer have the patience to wait for anything.

I remember when I was a kid, it was sooooo hard to wait for anything. Now as an adult, I find this to still be the case. I hate waiting in line, I hate waiting for street lights to change, I hate waiting for training videos to download on my computer, I hate waiting for checks in the mail…I want it NOW.

I want my ads to show up as soon as I place them. I want people to visit my website as soon as my ads are placed, I want them to buy today and call me about my network marketing opportunity.

Not only that, online these days it seems everyone is promising instant results and instant money. Next thing you know you’ll start seeing offers for Get Paid BEFORE you join…lol.

All this to say that in network marketing if we can have a little bit of patience with our business and success, we’ll get a lot farther along the road to success.

There is a simple formula that I’ve used for years to become successful in network marketing, working solely from home. Sure I could probably have more success if I traveled around doing hotel meeting and rah-rah sessions for my downline, but I made the choice early on to put my family ahead of my career. Now, for those of you that know me, know that I do very well from home and many of my contacts envy how I build my business from home. So if you want to have what I have, sitting here in my backyard ‘working’ while the kids swim in our pool, pay close attention.

Here’s the formula that I’ve used that you can copy for success in network marketing. First, work on placing at least one ad per day, every day. Then as time permits or if you are working more, start placing more ads each day, maybe 5 ads per day. During this time that you’re placing ads, you will start getting prospects or leads opt in for information. The more ads you place, the more prospects you will get. Second, make sure that you communicate with your prospects through an autoresponder. The 2 most popular autoresponders that I use are through Aweber and Response Magic. Third, offer your prospects the opportunity to join you in your network marketing business.

So…Step 1: Place ads and more ads daily.
Step 2: Communicate regularly with your prospects.
Step 3: Make offers to your prospects to join your network marketing business.

Now here’s the key. Success will not happen overnight like this. It will happen over time through consistently placing your ads and being patient with the process. In that time you need to stay the course.

Keep your autoship going, keep learning more, actively attend company trainings, work with your sponsor, and of course run your ads every single day. This is the way to network marketing success one ad at a time.

I believe that if you are laser focused in your network marketing training and application of what you learn, you will make more money. But not just a little bit more money, a lot more money. Don’t try to learn everything, just master one skill at a time. This will prove to be the difference between your continuous miserable failures in every business you join and succeeding in a big way with your next endeavor.

So how do you choose what to learn first or what’s most important to focus on?

First you should identify what skills you are missing, what you feel you need most to build your network marketing business, and what network marketing training is most readily accessible to you right now.

As you discover your needed skills keep in mind the major things you will need to accomplish are: building a contact list, inviting to a presentation, showing your business, following up and sponsoring, and training your new members. These 5 things are the big picture of what you will need to do to have success in your business.

So spend some time writing down what you feel you are already good at that apply to the 5 things that we just listed above. Are you good at meeting new people? Are you good at talking to people? Are you good at convincing others of your point of view?

Next spend some time writing down what you feel you’re missing that apply to the 5 things you will need to be doing. Are you scared of talking to people? Do you know what to say to people to invite them to a presentation? Do you have a training program that you can plug them into after you sponsor them? The list of things you are missing or that you feel you need might grow very large, but don’t worry, you’re not going to need to gain all of these skills your first week.

Network marketing training is about a personal evolution. Growing your skills over time is the key to becoming a master network marketer.

If you’re not sure where to start, I would recommend that you start learning the best ways to build your contact list. Most network marketing opportunities and support teams have the most support in inviting, presenting the opportunity, following up and sponsoring into the opportunity, and training your new members, but most tend to fall down completely on teaching lead generation. So if you’re going to focus on one thing to start with, I would focus 100% of my time on learning how to successfully generate a steady flow of prospects for your business.

Remember, you don’t need to become an expert at every way to generate prospects in building your contact list. Laser focus will get you to success faster than learning everything a little bit. Select one method of lead generation and become an absolute expert at everything there is to know and do with generating leads with that method. Then once you’ve mastered the one, you can increase your lead generation by becoming an absolute expert at another way of generating leads. Before you know it, you’ll be a lead generation expert.

The interesting thing is that for both of these projects, since they were relatively new to me, I immediately went to Google to look for some information on how to build a fence and how to build a tree house.

This is important for your network marketing business for ONE BIG REASON.Let me repeat that for you and break it down.

I was looking for information to learn how to do something new.
My first step was to go to Google to look for this information.

Whether you’re looking to build a fence in your backyard, start a new online business, or learn how to successfully advertise your current network marketing business, you can find great information on Google. But more importantly, millions of people are also using Google to search for HOW TO information on a daily basis.

Here’s something else that’s interesting that I also just took note of. During my search for information, I didn’t go past page 2 of the Google results. I also ignored all the Google Adwords ads on all the pages.

It’s true that the majority of traffic goes to the first 3 listings on Page 1 of Google, but all of the listings on Page 1 and Page 2 of Google are benefiting from the traffic they offer. Did you know that people are also becoming immune to Google Adwords ads. They are clicking on them less and less in the last 2 years. More educated browsing means that users are starting to ignore the ads, and go for more organic results.

I’m not advocating ignoring Google Adwords altogether, it has always been a great source of traffic for my network marketing business over the years. But, more attention needs to be put on getting your network marketing business on Page 1 of Google’s organic results.

So how do you do that?

You can pay big bucks to a SEO firm, cross your fingers and hope they don’t just take your money. Or you can work at it over the next couple months and get yourself listed on page 1 of Google for your desired keywords. The major benefits of doing it yourself is that you’ll know what it takes to get listed, so if you ever choose to use a SEO firm, they will be less likely to rip you off, since you’ll know what they’re talking about. Next, you will gain a skill that can be used for any internet business you build in the future. And finally, normally when you do it yourself – the hard way…your results will last much longer than if someone else does it for you, because you’re more likely to take less shortcuts and just get it done right.

The first and obvious question is: Do traffic exchanges work?

The short answer is YES. But I’ll take some more time to go through all of my most frequently asked questions about how to get network marketing leads using traffic exchanges to help you generate a steady flow of prospects for your network marketing business.

Here’s my top 12 most frequently asked questions about traffic exchanges.

1. Do traffic exchanges work?

Yes, traffic exchanges can work to generate leads for your network marketing opportunity. Would they be my first choice for traffic? No. This isn’t the most targeted traffic that you can get for your business, so I wouldn’t recommend using this as your primary method for getting leads for your business.

2. What is a traffic exchange?

A traffic exchange is simply an advertising website that will show your advertisement to other business owners in exchange for your reading or clicking on their advertisement or website. Traffic exchanges use a credit system and will show your advertisement as often as you are willing to either view other advertisements or pay for more credits.

3. Why do people click in traffic exchanges?

Most people that click or surf ads in traffic exchanges are there for the sole purpose of getting more advertising for their own website. There are NOT normally people in traffic exchanges that are looking for a new business, most already have one. This is not to say that they won’t be interested in a new business, but they are not really looking for one at this point.

4. Do prospects that opt in to your site from traffic exchanges join network marketing companies?

Some do, most don’t. Again, the majority of prospects that come from traffic exchanges already have a business or website that they want to promote. Rather than trying to compete with their existing network marketing opportunity, I would recommend that you offer them help with their current business, instead of trying to recruit them. You have a much better chance to sell them leads, recruiting tools, or some kind of marketing help, than you do recruiting them into your business.

5. Are prospects from traffic exchanges any good?

Of course they are. I would be a good prospect wouldn’t I? I’m in some traffic exchanges and so are many, many very good prospects. They are all real people just like you an I. The key though is whether or not you can offer them something that they are interested in buying or joining.

6. How many hits from a traffic exchange will generate a prospects on my site?

Usually 1000′s. It’s true that you can get lots of hits from a traffic exchange, but it takes 1000′s or 10,000′s of hits to generate leads for your site. The reason why is simple. Most people are just clicking on your site to get advertising for their own site. So they normally won’t opt in for more information about your business or offer.You will get some interest and generate some prospects from the traffic. Make sure you follow up with these people or have a follow up system in place.

7. Should I refer my members to traffic exchanges to get leads?

It can’t hurt you. Your members will spend some time getting some traffic to their site and can generate some leads for their business. However, if you do refer your members to traffic exchanges, make sure they know what they’re getting into. Make sure they have the correct expectations. 1000′s of hits, not very many leads. As long as they go to the traffic exchanges with the right mindset – they can make them work to get some leads too.

8. Should I upgrade my traffic exchange account to the PAID version?

I wouldn’t recommend that you upgrade in them all, but a PAID membership is normally worth it if you are going to be using the traffic exchanges. Pick your top 1, 2, or 3 and get an upgraded account. This will get you more traffic to your site faster, which in turn will help generate leads for you faster, which is what you want.

9. How should I target the potential prospects in traffic exchanges?

I like to target them  knowing that they already have a business and need help. I like to offer them help with getting leads, converting more sales, network marketing training courses, internet marketing training, and things that a struggling network marketer might be interested in. I would suggest you do something similar.

10. What should I say in my ads with traffic exchanges?

Be creative and try to grab attention. Since traffic exchange ads are basically free, I like to go a little over the top in these ads. Use words that will catch their attention and don’t be afraid to use pop culture references as well to be different and grab attention.

11. I don’t seem to be getting leads from the traffic exchange, what am I doing wrong?

You probably just don’t have enough traffic yet. Keep clicking, keep getting more hits to your site. If you’ve got 50,000 hits to your site with still no leads, you probably want to make some changes to your opt in site. Normally the problem is just that the traffic isn’t very targeted…remember, these are all just people clicking like you are to get hits to their site too. They won’t REALLY be interested in your offer, but you’ll catch a few that can perk up if the offer is right for them.

12. What’s the best traffic exchange to use?

There are lots of traffic exchanges out there. Have a look at the www.Alexa.com rankings for the traffic exchange. The more traffic it gets, generally the better it will perform. I like Traffic Swarm. You can get a free or paid Traffic Swarm account here.

I hope this helps you in determining if using Traffic Exchanges to generate leads for your network marketing business is right for you. Remember, that if you choose to use traffic exchanges in your marketing, don’t exclusively rely on them to generate network marketing leads for your business. Use other internet marketing techniques as well.

I was a little taken aback, because I didn’t realize that there was going to be a Zombie Apocalypse tomorrow until they filled me in. This got me thinking about my network marketing business. If half the world is crushed by earthquakes and zombies, then those of us that survive, will definitely have a great opportunity to really explode our network marketing businesses.

I put together a few simple things you should do immediately that will help you build your network marketing business after the Apocalypse (including if there are Zombies in your city). Here goes…

Step 1: Phone, email, text, facebook, or send a carrier pigeon to your network marketing home office to determine if they are still open for business and if they have a shipping company that will continue to deliver products and pay checks to your area.

Step 2: Find out either online, by tv, or by walking around outside if there are any zombies walking around in your area. If there are zombies, locate a network marketing company that distributes any of the following products which are all effective for both deterring zombies and for complete zombie removal:

- Kitana Swords
- Zombie Repellent Spray
- Flame Throwers
- Chainsaws
- Lead Pipes
- Lightsabers or Blasters
- Assault Rifles or Uzis
- and of course golf clubs and baseball bats

Network Marketing companies offering these products after a flood of Zombies start roaming around will really take off and of course being in on the groundfloor of a Kitana Sword or Flame Thrower network marketing business will really be huge for your income post-Apocalypse.

Step 3: This is a very important step; prospecting. Lead generation and finding suitable business partners after the Apocalypse will require a new set of skills that you will need to learn. I will be holding weekly conference calls to teach you prospecting skills such as:

- How to tell the difference between a Zombie and someone that is just bored to death with your network marketing pitch
- One secret technique that allows you to close 100% of your prospects into your business when they’ve had family members eaten by Zombies. This technique is guaranteed to work 100% of the time
- How to get your prospect to trade their last food rations for a membership in your network marketing business
- How to get your prospect “garage qualified” on the first contact, even if they no longer have a garage, or car, or job, or money
- How to have a flood of prospects banging down your door wanting in (even if there aren’t Zombies chasing them)
- How to get Social Security Numbers for Zombies, so your new Diamond Executive Distributor can sign up all his Zombie friends

Step 4: Email Marketing…SPAM everyone you possibly can!! The first group of people that will be quarantined as potential Zombies will definitely be everyone working for the FTC and the computer geeks that spend 24 hours per day programming networks to regulate email and spam worldwide. These guys are already the walking dead. So after they’re gone, spam will be easy to get through with no rules and no regulators around. Take fast action right after the Apocalypse.

Step 5: Check to see if you are a Zombie. If you are still trying to build your network marketing business diligently after the Apocalypse, you might already be a Zombie yourself. Ask your neighbor or a friend if you appear to be undead or have a pale complexion. If you are a Zombie, try to recruit your Zombie friends and family, likely they will not put up many objections to joining you in your network marketing business…in fact, most won’t even talk. If they moan or grunt, that means YES, they want to join. Sign them up.
