It’s the second intermission of the hockey game on tv, one of the few things I’ll watch on a regular basis, and I was thinking of some of the things I’ve been doing lately. In the last few weeks, I’ve been working outside quite a bit around the yard. I put up a new fence in our backyard, when our old fence finally blew over in some strong winds and the kids have been hounding me to build a tree house in the backyard as well, although I have ventured to do this yet.

The interesting thing is that for both of these projects, since they were relatively new to me, I immediately went to Google to look for some information on how to build a fence and how to build a tree house.

This is important for your network marketing business for ONE BIG REASON.Let me repeat that for you and break it down.

I was looking for information to learn how to do something new.
My first step was to go to Google to look for this information.

Whether you’re looking to build a fence in your backyard, start a new online business, or learn how to successfully advertise your current network marketing business, you can find great information on Google. But more importantly, millions of people are also using Google to search for HOW TO information on a daily basis.

Here’s something else that’s interesting that I also just took note of. During my search for information, I didn’t go past page 2 of the Google results. I also ignored all the Google Adwords ads on all the pages.

It’s true that the majority of traffic goes to the first 3 listings on Page 1 of Google, but all of the listings on Page 1 and Page 2 of Google are benefiting from the traffic they offer. Did you know that people are also becoming immune to Google Adwords ads. They are clicking on them less and less in the last 2 years. More educated browsing means that users are starting to ignore the ads, and go for more organic results.

I’m not advocating ignoring Google Adwords altogether, it has always been a great source of traffic for my network marketing business over the years. But, more attention needs to be put on getting your network marketing business on Page 1 of Google’s organic results.

So how do you do that?

You can pay big bucks to a SEO firm, cross your fingers and hope they don’t just take your money. Or you can work at it over the next couple months and get yourself listed on page 1 of Google for your desired keywords. The major benefits of doing it yourself is that you’ll know what it takes to get listed, so if you ever choose to use a SEO firm, they will be less likely to rip you off, since you’ll know what they’re talking about. Next, you will gain a skill that can be used for any internet business you build in the future. And finally, normally when you do it yourself – the hard way…your results will last much longer than if someone else does it for you, because you’re more likely to take less shortcuts and just get it done right.
